Blaser wins Griffin poetry prize

Robin Blaser, SFU professor emeritus of English, is the 2008 Canadian recipient of the world’s richest poetry prize for a single volume of poetry: the C$100,000 Griffin Poetry Prize. He shares the prize with international winner John Ashbery.
Blaser won for The Holy Forest: Collected Poems of Robin Blaser (University of California Press). He is considered one of North America’s most outstanding poets of the post-war period. He also holds the 2006 inaugural Griffin Trust for Excellence in Poetry’s Lifetime Recognition Award.
