Can fat be good for you? How do you prevent suicide? How can you avoid burnout? You’ll find the answers to these and other intriguing health questions at SFU’s Surrey campus this July and August.

The Summer Health Institute is offering eight free workshops on topics such as mental wellness, child nutrition, burnout and relationships starting July 10, says Michal Fedeles, director of continuing health education.

"This is the first time that SFU’s health education, prevention, nutrition and counselling specialists are making their expertise available on such a scale," says Fedeles. "We will address topics that individuals and families are most interested in — healthy eating, staying in shape, and overall leading a balanced and happy life."

Sessions run from 6:30 – 8:30 pm in room 3270. Here’s the schedule:

• July 10 — Mental Wellness

• July 17 — QPR-Suicide Prevention Training

• July 24 — Child Nutrition: Healthy eating, weights and attitudes

• July 31 — Eating Well for Life

• Aug. 7 — Choose Bliss over Burnout

• Aug. 14 — The Delicate Art of Relationships

• Aug. 21 — Childhood Health

• Aug. 28 — Fit for Life
