Fourth-year SFU computing science student Angelica Lim (above) is among four Canadian scholars to receive a 2008 Google Anita Borg Scholarship. The $5,000 award honours the work of Anita Borg, an American computer scientist who dedicated her career to dismantling barriers to women entering the computing and technology fields.

Lim helped to found Women in Computing Science (WICS), which offers support for women in computing science at SFU, and ChicTech, a competition in which teams of high-school girls build websites for non-profit organizations.

Also recognized was SFU doctoral student Ming Hua, who is among 13 Canadians to receive a 2008 Canada Anita Borg Finalist award, worth $1,000.
