SFU archivist Frances Fournier has been awarded honourary membership in the Society for Canadian Women in Science and Technology (SCWIST). The award recognizes Fournier’s contribution in preserving the non-profit organization’s historical records. Frances rescued an early set of records from a garden shed, then spent weeks appraising, arranging and describing the documents before storing them in acid-free folders and boxes in the SFU archives. She recently received more material from SCWIST. "Since we’re linked with the Canadian Archival Information Network, not only will people at SFU know we have the records, but also people all across Canada," says Fournier. SCWIST was founded in 1981 to promote, encourage and empower women working in science and technology. "I’m absolutely honoured to be made an honourary member of SCWIST," says Fournier. "There are many august members in the organization and I’m just an archivist."
