Established in September 2004, SFU’s Faculty of Health Sciences offers Canada’s most comprehensive program in population and public health. Researchers and students from disciplines as diverse as molecular biology, epidemiology, geography, political science and anthropology work together on studies spanning everything from the cell to society.

The faculty’s mission, says dean John O’Neil, is to integrate social and natural science research in order to discover vital information about population health on a global scale – and then apply this knowledge to develop better public health policies.

The faculty is also committed to giving students practical opportunities to apply their knowledge to health problems in B.C. and beyond.

The faculty currently has 34 faculty members and five limited-term appointments, 512 health science majors, 141 graduate students and 39 alumni.
