SFU emergency personnel will be there to help during a severe weather event – but you can help, too.

Here are a few suggestions:
  • Keep informed. Learn as much as you can ahead of time. Start with the Q&A at the EHS website’s severe-weather webpage at: www.ehs.sfu.ca/emergency/categories/C183/
  • Sign up with SFU Alerts. Go to www.sfu.ca/sfualerts.
  • Get ready. Put together a cold-weather emergency kit with basic supplies such as blankets, water, dry clothes and extra medications. Check with EHS for kit ideas.
  • Make contingency plans if you have special needs or are responsible for childcare and/or eldercare.

Get in the loop:

  • Attend Winterfest in Convocation Mall on Nov. 5, 11:30 am -1:30 pm to learn more about safe driving, traffic management, communication, and severe weather planning.
  • Attend a 20-minute overview of the SFU Severe Weather Plan in Halpern Centre 12:15 pm-12:45 pm.
