SFU moves up in ranks

In Maclean’s magazine’s annual rankings of 47 Canadian universities, SFU moved up two spots in the ratings, to #2, for "overall academic excellence" among the survey’s 11 comprehensive universities. SFU also ranked second for national student awards.

Among the 11 mid-sized universities, SFU placed first for medical/science grants, faculty awards, social science and humanities grants and operating budget per student, and took fifth place in total research dollars per faculty member. The university placed third in percentage of university budget allotted to library services.

Among all 47 universities, SFU ranked #12 in the best overall category and #11 in the "most innovative" category.

SFU also placed #139 in the world in the Times of London rankings — up from #282 last year.
