Matrimony, maternity and motherhood
May 3, 2007
Just in time for Mother's Day is a unique fashion-show fundraiser,
Matrimony, Maternity and Motherhood Through the Ages, on Friday, May 11 at the Diamond Alumni Centre (DAC) at SFU's Burnaby campus. Curated by award-winning fashion historian Ivan Sayers, the playful evening program features a smorgasbord of vintage haute female fashions from 1900 to present day. Everyone's Daughter, a 24-person team participating in the annual Weekend To End Breast Cancer 60-km walk in August, organized the Victorian-themed event. SFU staff members Manjeet Gill, Kate Scheel, and Carol Thorbes (a breast cancer survivor), are among the team members who will walk through Vancouver neighborhoods to help raise funds for breast cancer research, treatment and patient care in B.C. The $17.50 ticket price includes desserts and beverages, a silent auction, and the chance to win great door prizes. Doors open at the DAC, University Drive East, at 6:30 p.m.; the fashion show begins at 7:15 p.m. For tickets, contact
Manjeet Gill (phone: 604-268-6819).
