SFU senior wrestler Neal Ewers was among eight Burnaby Mountain wrestlers to win a national title at the Canadian national club champion-ships held in Guelph, Ontario in early May.

The win is Ewers' first senior national title in the 66 kilogram weight class, and it helped lead the Burnaby Mountain team to its 19th straight championship in the men's division.

Ewers, who was also named outstanding tournament wrestler, wrapped up his final SFU season with a second place finish at the recent NAIA championships, even as he was recovering from injuries he sustained in a serious car accident. Meanwhile, female wrestler Shannon Samler didn't surrender a single point as she completely dominated her opponents to capture the national championship crown in the 67kg category.

In total, the Burnaby Mountain wrestling club placed nine athletes in finals with eight winning national championships in their weight classes.
