Feast honours Aboriginal grads

About 150 people gathered June 16 in the Burnaby campus West Mall Centre student lounge for an Honouring Feast salmon dinner to celebrate this year’s Aboriginal graduates.
University dignitaries and guests from as far away as Quebec and Terrace were on hand as 53 First Nations, Inuit and Metis graduates received their degrees. Among them were one EdD, 16 master’s degrees in fields ranging from education to public policy, and 36 undergraduate degrees and certificates. Metis-Chipwyan undergrad Kelvin Redvers of NWT was awarded the Gordon Shrum Award along with a BA in fine arts.
