SFU has established the Michael Stevenson Legacy Endowment Fund to honour the contributions of SFU’s longest-serving president. The fund will provide graduate student scholarships across all faculties.

Stevenson, who retires Aug. 3, has led one of the most ambitious programs of organizational change and development at any Canadian university. His legacy includes:

• Relocating SFU Contemporary Arts to the new Woodward’s redevelopment project in downtown Vancouver.
• Creating SFU's new Surrey campus and the Segal Graduate School of Business downtown.
• Expanding classroom, research and residence facilities at the Burnaby campus.
