Campus Security is hosting its 13th annual Kids Safety Day for all SFU and UniverCity children and parents at the Burnaby Campus on Saturday, Aug. 21, 11 am – 2 pm, by the reflecting pond in the Academic Quadrangle.

The deadline for preregistration (and free pizza and drink for the youngsters) is Aug. 18. Or you can register on the day of the event, beginning at 11 am. Every child will receive a prize.

The free educational event focuses on child health and safety with activities the whole family will enjoy. It also serves to help kids become more familiar with safety and security providers so they feel comfortable approaching them for help, should the need ever arise.

The day’s events include a bike rodeo, safety presentations and demonstrations, face painting, jumping castle, games and prize draws.

“This year we hope to see over 200 kids with ages ranging from newborn to 14 years, accompanied by their parents,” says Campus Security patrol operations supervisor, Kiehah Kim.

Both parents and children benefit from Kids Safety Day, says Kim, because it provides safety awareness for the home as well as in the community.
