SFU has appointed Tim Rahilly, currently senior director of student and community life, as its new associate VP-students and international for a one-year term beginning April 12. He replaces Nello Angerilli who has accepted a position in New Zealand.

An adjunct education professor, Rahilly has worked in the student services area for more than 20 years. Since arriving at SFU in 2003 as the director of student development and programming, he "has earned the trust of his colleagues during a period of significant organizational changes," says VP-academic Jon Driver.

"I’d like to say that we have bold plans going forward," says Rahilly, "but with the budget cuts we’re all facing, I have a more realistic goal for the coming year. I aim to preserve the services and programs we’ve developed to help students survive and thrive at SFU."
