Students in Rez this fall are learning to live greener thanks to a number of Residence Life initiatives. They can now opt into a $2-per-semester Tupperware program and take their food away in reusable containers. They also have a WaterFillz vending machine that dispenses free filtered water into reusable water bottles. Recycling is also easier and more accessible to residents. Plus there’s a new Community Advisors’ sustainability-training program and a residence sustainability guide created by a summer intern through a project supported by the SFU Sustainability Advisory Committee.

"Residence and Housing has been listening to students to help set our strategic goals for the sustainability plan," says residence and housing director, Jan Flagel. "We decided with students’ help this was the year to start some initiatives that would help move us toward our goals of cutting back our energy usage."
