SFU’s Curry named top Surrey businesswoman

SFU’s Surrey campus executive director, Joanne Curry, was singled out for top honours in the professional category at the Surrey Women in Business Awards last month. As her nominator wrote, "Joanne is passionate about building community partnerships and utilizing the university’s strengths and resources to better the economic and social life of the communities served by the university."
Curry has been executive director since the Surrey campus opened in 2002, with administrative responsibility for campus operations as well as community relations. She was formerly executive director of the national TeleLearning Network of Centres of Excellence and director of SFU’s University/Industry Liaison Office, and she also held numerous management positions in the private sector. Curry holds an MBA from SFU and a BCom with distinction from the University of Manitoba.
