Professor Andre Gerolymatos, chair of Hellenic Studies, has a new book out this month. Castles Made of Sand analyzes the espionage activities of the United States and the United Kingdom in the Middle East over the past 100 years. Promotional materials describe it as a “definitive account of covert operations in the Middle East” and say it “reveals how the explosive nature of the region today has direct roots in the history of American and Western intervention.”
