May 9 is the deadline to nominate a staff representative to SFU's board of governors for a term of office from June 1, 2011 to May 31, 2014.

To nominate, stand for office, or vote for a representative you must be employed by the university in a continuing full- or part-time (50 per cent or greater) position as a professional, administrative, support or other non-academic staff member.

That includes CUPE, APSA, Poly Party, and excluded Administrative Professional positions. Details on eligibility are included in the Rules of Senate.

The registrar’s office (MBC 3102) must receive completed forms no later than 4:30 pm, Monday, May 9, 2011.

If only one nomination form is received by the deadline, the candidate will be declared elected by acclamation. If more than one nomination is received, online voting will take place from May 16, 2011 to May 18, 2011.

Eligible voters will receive an email notification with information about the candidates and how to access the online voting system.

For a nomination form and more detailed information visit: http://students.sfu.ca/elections/staff/index.html and/or email the senate assistant and electoral officer.
