Stevenson chairs international education council
February 19, 2009
The newly created British Columbia Council for International Education has named SFU President Michael Stevenson (above left) as board chair. The council’s mandate is to represent and support public K-12 and post-secondary education and accredited private institutions in their international initiatives. It will also market the province as a study destination for high-achieving international students. B.C. recently surpassed Ontario as the top Canadian destination for international students, and both the provincial and federal governments are committed to increasing their numbers and retaining them after graduation.
