Business professor honoured

SFU Business professor Ian McCarthy has received a Fulbright New Century Scholar (NCS) appointment. The NCS program supports outstanding research scholars and professionals worldwide to engage in multidisciplinary collaboration on a topic of global significance and universal concern.
This year’s topic is the role of higher education in national and global economic development, with a specific focus on "The University as Innovation Driver and Knowledge Center."
McCarthy is a chartered engineer with a PhD in operations strategy. He holds a Canada Research Chair in management of technology and operations management at SFU and heads the university’s new Business Centre for Research in Biotechnology Management.
The appointment will allow him to further his research into the design and operational performance of technology-based organizations.
