Search for Stevenson’s successor
February 19, 2009
President Michael Stevenson has advised the board of governors that he will step down at the end of his current term, Aug. 31, 2010. As required by the University Act of British Columbia, senate and the board of governors have approved a policy for the presidential search process (B 10.06), revised in 2007. Under the policy terms, elections for the faculty, students and staff roles on the search committee will be initiated shortly and the committee is expected to start work in March. Stevenson became SFU’s eighth president and vice-chancellor on Dec. 1, 2000, after seven years as vice-president (academic affairs) and provost at Toronto’s York University.
