The federal government is contributing up to $1.2 million in 2008-09 to ensure students can continue to attend French-language university programs and courses at SFU. The funding lets SFU’s Office of Francophone and Francophile Affairs to continue developing, coordinating and promoting French-language programs and courses to meet B.C.’s post-secondary needs. "We are encouraging British Columbians and all Canadians to take part in our country’s linguistic duality," said James Moore (above), Minister of Canadian Heritage and Official Languages, who announced the funding on Feb. 27. He noted that 2009 is the 40th anniversary of the Official Languages Act.
