On April 1, the School of Kinesiology is joining the Faculty of Science, where it will become the new department of biomedical physiology and kinesiology (BPK). It was previously affiliated with the Faculty of Applied Sciences.

“The Faculty of Science is a good fit,” says BPK departmental chair Peter Reuben. “We really are more than kinesiology. The new name reflects that greater breadth and acknowledges that many of our students go on to post-graduate training in various medical and allied health professions.”

He says the switch will improve undergraduate programming and increase the opportunities for kinesiology researchers to further their collaborations with science faculty members.

The move is not physical, however. The department of biomedical physiology and kinesiology will remain in the same offices as the former School of Kinesiology.
