SFU Pipe Band bagpipe players made a strong showing Sept. 3-4 at the 211th annual Northern Meeting in Inverness, Scotland, an exclusive competition for the world’s top 100 pipers. The event followed the SFU band’s sixth world championship title—and its second straight—in Glasgow Aug. 12 at the World Pipe Band Championships. Pipe sergeant Jack Lee came third in the "clasp" competition in Inverness, while piper Callum Beaumont was fifth in the prime gold medal event. Beaumont also took third in the Grade A March, Strathspey and Reel, followed by Lee’s son Colin who came fourth. SFU pipe major Terry Lee’s son, Alastair Lee, placed second in the Grade B Strathspey and Reel contest and fifth in the Grade B march event.
