Flaming pumpkins, glowing pickles, floating bats and a suicide pendulum are all part of the first Halloween Science Spooktacular for kids and families at SFU’s Burnaby campus on Saturday, October 31, 12:30–2:30 pm. Organized and presented by SFU goblins and witches, aka physics and chemistry faculty, staff and students, the show starts at the Academic Quadrangle, south concourse 3000 level. Spirited scientists will serve liquid nitrogen ice cream to cool the audience’s jittery nerves. SFU glass blower Bruce Harmon will breathe life into small glass animals to give away. Then take in the Spooktacular science show, 1:30–2:30 in the Shrum Science Centre, B9200 lecture theatre.
