Looking for the perfect socially conscious holiday gift? How about a mosquito-emblazoned certificate of thanks for donating $10 to SFU’s Spread the Net campaign to buy insecticide-treated bed nets to help protect vulnerable African children from malaria? "They make great stocking stuffers," says biologist Carl Lowenberger—aka Dr. Mosquito—who last September helped comedian Rick Mercer launch this year’s national Spread the Net student fundraiser. Donate online at SFU’s Spread the Net Student Challenge page, at at.sfu.ca/exvjtr. Then contact Lowenberger (clowenbe@sfu.ca; 778.782.3985) or Jerry Ericsson (jericsso@sfu.ca; 778.782.4391) to receive your certificate(s). SFU is currently in first place in the nationwide contest with more than $9,000 raised so far.
