Blusson Hall, the home of the Faculty of Health Sciences at the Burnaby campus, will be one of many SFU spots featured on Living Vancouver in the New Year.

Jaeny Baik, host of the half-hour local CBC television lifestyle show, was on campus just before Christmas to shoot footage for the show’s January 7 and 8, 2009 episodes.

Along with segment producer Wendy Vreeken and camera operator Brett Hyde, Baik roamed the campus getting shots of herself talking about university life and collecting visuals that showcase SFU’s architecture. The trio explored Blusson Hall, SFU’s two new technology and sciences complexes, and toured the Academic Quadrangle’s Reflecting Pond.

For the January 7 show, Baik interviewed Corinne Chang, a mature first-year student in the Integrated Studies Program at the downtown campus. Chang, a full-time working mother of two and a volunteer with Little League Baseball in B.C., will talk about how she juggles school, work and family.

For the January 8 show, Baik talked to Brian Corrie, technical director of SFU’s Centre for Interdisciplinary Research in the Mathematical and Computational Sciences (IRMACS), about the centre’s high-tech telecommunications capabilities.

Baik even used IRMACS’ technology to enhance her on-camera presence. Living Vancouver airs weekdays at 3 p.m. See www.cbc.ca/livingvancouver.
