The SFU Seniors Program is reaching into the community with "Learn Where You Live", a selection of non-credit courses for students aged 55 and older. The program delivers courses throughout the Lower Mainland at community centres and assisted-living centres. The program launched its first Learn Where You Live course, Biblical Misunderstandings, at Haro Park Centre in Vancouver’s West End this fall. It will introduce classes exploring the history of jazz music in January 2009 at the West Vancouver Seniors’ Activity Centre and Vancouver’s Amica Arbutus Manor. "These classes are an important outreach initiative to introduce the seniors program to lifelong learners who might otherwise not attend our classes at the Vancouver campus," says Alan Aberbach, program director.
