SFU health sciences student Vanessa Dixon has won a $5000 graduate award from the non-profit Heritage Educational Foundation, a leading provider of pooled registered education savings plans (RESPs). The award acknowledges students with outstanding academic records who have also made significant contributions to their family, community and society.

Dixon began a master’s degree in public health in the Faculty of Health Sciences’ global health program this year after completing a bachelor of arts in history with high honours at Dalhousie University in 2007.

"My ambition," says Dixon, "is to work for an international health agency such as the World Health Organization or UNAIDS where I can collaborate with professionals from all over the world to address global health inequities."
