VP-academic Jon Driver has appointed SFU Contemporary Arts music professor, Owen Underhill, as director of SFU Woodward’s for a three-year term, responsible for managing the cultural programming and community relations at the new facility.

The overall management of the facility will remain the responsibility of the SFU Vancouver campus executive director.

"SFU Woodward’s, in addition to being the exciting new address for the School for the Contemporary Arts later this summer, will also be the home for a cultural program expected to create a new artistic hub in the City of Vancouver," says Driver.

Underhill is uniquely qualified to manage cultural programming and community relations, says Driver, as he has provided leadership over a number of years as SFU Contemporary Arts’ downtown liaison on the Woodward’s project.

He has also served multiple terms as the school’s director, and will again be appointed to the job this September.

"I am very grateful to professor Underhill for agreeing to take on these concurrent appointments," says Driver, "and I feel confident that our strategic vision for SFU Woodward’s and our engagement in the local community are in able hands."
