New school opens at UniverCity

University Highlands Elementary School opened this week, with 165 students registered. The school is a LEED (Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design) Gold building, the first of its kind in B.C. It features reclaimed building materials, natural lighting and green products. Skylights, solar panels and a living roof all contribute to the building’s energy management.
