New PCUP priorities committee struck
SFU vice-president David Gagan has struck a committee to establish priorities
on recommendations contained in the final report of the president's committee
on university planning (PCUP).
Throughout the fall, the committee will consult with the university community
on recommendations contained in the PCUP reports, assign priorities and
outline strategies for implementing specific recommendations. A report will
be completed by the end of November.
"I am hoping that as of now, members of the university community will
take whatever opportunities arise to talk to committee members," says
chair Katherine Heinrich, math and statistics. Meetings are being arranged
with deans, chairs and directors to learn more about campus units and to
discuss which of the PCUP recommendations people feel should have the highest
priority.
"We plan to consult as widely as possible," Heinrich adds.
Other committee members include Joan Collinge, continuing studies, Lucy
LeMare, education, Brian Lewis, communication, Jim Ogloff, psychology, Larry
Pinfield, business administration, Michael Smith, biological sciences, Owen
Underhill, contemporary arts, Diane Whitely, registrar's, and two students.
The committee has established a Web site to keep SFU constituents informed
of its activities. It is located at: http://www.sfu.ca/vpacademic/planning/
