SFU appeals Yeomans decision
Simon Fraser University will appeal a recent B.C. Supreme Court decision
awarding damages to former security director Ralph Yeomans who was fired
following an internal investigation.
Justice Lloyd Williamson ruled that the university conducted a flawed investigation
into the incident and awarded Yeomans damages equivalent to 10 months worth
of salary.
Yeomans was dismissed in January, 1995 after working at the university for
five years as head of security. The university took action following a complaint
related to an incident at a staff Christmas party during which Yeomans and
his wife were involved in a physical altercation.
