Rite of spring

Art student Jennifer Evers' project, For You, seems timely with Easter approaching, but her goal was to create a crucifix that would "speak" on a personal level, and not just represent religion. The body's purple color symbolizes royalty and does not imply any particular race, says Evers, whose work hangs near the women's centre on the way to the west mall centre. The artwork is one of 30 projects temporarily installed around campus by two classes of first-year art students in the school for the contemporary arts. The creations have become a traditional sign of spring on the Burnaby campus.
