Farmers market on campus

MINI-FARMERS MARKET: Veggies such as cauliflower and broccoli are available in the east concourse every Tuesday and Thursday from 12:30 p.m.-6 p.m., at a mini-farmers' market. The selection of fruits and vegetables, all organically grown produce from the Fraser Valley, also includes kale, squash, beets, carrots and apples, to name a few. Organizer Stephen Gallagher, pictured at his farm, opened for business on campus in October. The bulk of the produce has been pulled fresh from the fields of Gallagher's Nathan Creek organic farm, and nearby Snow Farms, both in Abbotsford. Gallagher, a graduate student in history, packs in truckloads of a wide assortment of produce for each market. He hopes to create a base of support on campus for the establishment of a full-time farmer's market at SFU, beginning next April.
