The following new faculty will join SFU over the summer.

Thomas Archibald
Thomas Archibald has been appointed professor with tenure and chair of the department of mathematics. Archibald joins SFU from the University of Acadia in Wolfville, Nova Scotia where he was acting head of the mathematics department. He holds a PhD in the history of science from the University of Toronto, a masters degree in the history of science from the University of Toronto and a masters degree in pure mathematics from York University. He is a recipient of the Carl B. Allendoerfer award from the Mathematical Association of America for expository writing in the mathematical sciences.

Ivan Bajic
Ivan Bajic joins the school of engineering science as a tenure track assistant professor. A South African citizen, Bajic was most recently a visiting assistant professor at the University of Miami, Florida. He holds a PhD in electrical engineering from Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute in Troy, New York, where he received an outstanding teaching assistant award. His research interests focus on signal processing and information theory and how these can be applied to multimedia communications and bioinformatics.

Alexander Chapman
Alexander Chapman is a tenure track assistant professor in the department of psychology. He joins SFU from the University of Washington where he was a postdoctoral fellow in the department of psychology. He holds a PhD in clinical psychology from Idaho State University and is interested in emotion regulation and evidence-based treatment.

Dennis Chung
Dennis Chung has been appointed an associate professor with SFU business. Most recently an associate professor of accounting at Clarkson University in Potsdam, New York, Chung holds a PhD from the University of Alberta and has worked in industry as a chartered accountant. His research focuses on the impact of accounting information on financial markets; financial disclosure and corporate governance issues; and information asymmetry and market liquidity.

Geoffrey Dunbar
Geoffrey Dunbar joins the economics department as a tenure track assistant professor. A recent PhD graduate from Queen's University, Dunbar's research interests are in macroeconomics, particularly related to wealth and inequality. He has also worked as an economist for the Bank of Canada.

Andrea Geiger-Adams
Andrea Geiger-Adams is a new assistant professor of history. She joins SFU from Capilano College where she was a history instructor. She holds a PhD in history, an MA in history and a Juris Doctor degree from the University of Washington, and a BA in Japanese language and literature from Edison State College. Her research interests focus on Canadian history, particularly Canadian immigration and First Nations history. Geiger-Adams has also worked in the U.S. court system as a judicial clerk and as a reservation attorney for the Confederated Tribes of the Colville Reservation in Washington.

Sudheer Gupta
Sudheer Gupta has been appointed a tenure track assistant professor with SFU business. He was most recently an assistant professor of operations and management science at the Ross School of Business, University of Michigan. He holds a PhD in business administration and an MBA from McGill University and a bachelor of engineering from Punjab Engineering College in Chandigarh, India. His research interests are in the areas of operations management and marketing.
