During the convocation ceremonies on Oct. 7 and 8, SFU will honour three individuals whose achievements and contributions deserve special recognition.

Sheila Fraser, Canada's auditor general, will receive an honorary doctor of laws for outstanding achievements in the field of accounting and for bringing issues on government spending to the public's attention.

David McLean, is chair of Canadian National Railway and chairman and CEO of the McLean Group, which has overseen numerous real estate developments including Vancouver Film Studios in east Vancouver. He will receive an honorary doctor of laws.

Nancy McKinstry, vice-president of Odlum Brown, is founder and chair of the Minerva Foundation for B.C. women, which financially supports women in need to attain their educational goals. She also receives an honorary doctor of laws.

Fraser and McLean will be honoured at fall convocation ceremonies on Oct. 7. McKinstry receives her degree Oct. 8.
