SFU board of governors vice-chair Nancy McKinstry and her husband Gregory both beat cancer a few months ago and now they've won a second time—with a $100,000 B.C. Cancer Foundation early-bird lottery prize Nov. 16. “The two of us did not have a very pleasant 18 months,” she told The Province in reference to her chemotherapy for ovarian cancer and her husband's prostate cancer surgery.
“But we are both doing extraordinarily well right now and both of our prognoses were very, very good.” SFU awarded Nancy McKinstry an Honorary Doctor of Laws in 2004, and in February 2005 she was named a Member of the Order of Canada. Gregory McKinstry is a retired chief financial officer.
