Lynne Bell
Lynne Bell joins the archaeology department as a tenure track associate professor from Bournemouth University, Poole, England. Bell holds a PhD and MSc in anatomy and developmental biology from University College, London. Her research specializes in stable isotope analysis and their application to forensic case work.



Luc Bonenfant
Luc Bonenfant is a tenure track assistant professor in the French department. He was most recently a post-doctoral fellow at the University of McGill. He holds a PhD in French language and literature from the University of Wolverhampton. His research focuses on 19th century French literature, Canadian-French literature and literature of the Francophone world.



Susan Brook
Susan Brook, a former senior lecturer at Staffordshire University in Stoke-on-Trent, England, joins the English department as a tenure track assistant professor. She holds a PhD in literature from Duke University in the U.S. and a BA from the University of Otago, New Zealand. Brook, whose main research interest is in postwar British literature and cultural theory, will teach 20th century literature.



Andrei Bulatov
Andrei Bulatov is a tenure track assistant professor in the school of computing science. Most recently a research officer with the Oxford University computing laboratory, Bulatov was also an assistant and associate professor at Ural State University, Russia. He holds a PhD in mathematics from the Institute of Mathematics and Mechanics at Ekaterinburg, Russia.



Lara Campbell
Lara Campbell joins the women's studies department as a tenure track assistant professor. Previously a limited term professor at Nipissing University in North Bay, Ontario, Campbell holds a PhD in history from Queen's University, a MA in history from the University of Toronto and bachelor degrees in both history and social work from McMaster University.



Harold Gibson
Harold Gibson joins the department of earth sciences as a tenure track assistant professor of structural geology from the University of Massachusetts where he was a post-doctoral fellow. He holds a PhD and MSc from Carleton University and a BSc from Colgate University. His research areas include structures and tectonics, field geology, and Cordilleran geology.



David Jacks
David Jacks is a new tenure track assistant professor in the department of economics. He joins SFU from the University of California-Davis where he recently earned his PhD. He holds a MSc from the London School of Economics and a MA from the University of Memphis. His research fields include economic history, international economics, and econometrics.



Peter Liljedahl
Peter Liljedahl, who recently earned his PhD in education at SFU, has accepted a position as a tenure track assistant professor in the faculty of education. His area of specialization is mathematics education.



Mario Liotti
Mario Liotti has been appointed an associate professor with tenure in the psychology department. Most recently a reader of cognitive neuroscience with the division of psychiatry at the University of Nottingham, England, Liotti holds a PhD in neuroscience from the University of Parma school of medicine and an MD specializing in neurology from the University of Naples second school of medicine, both in Italy.
