Anke Kessler
Anke Kessler has been appointed a tenured associate professor in the department of economics. Kessler, most recently an assistant professor at the University of Bonn, Germany, holds a MSc from the University of Wisconsin and a PhD from the University of Bonn. Her research specializations include both theoretical and applied micro-economics. Kessler has a strong publication record, with nine articles published in the past six years.

Alexei Kochetov
Alexei Kochetov joins the linguistics department as a tenure track assistant professor. Kochetov was most recently a post-doctoral fellow at the prestigious Haskins laboratories in New Haven, Connecticut. A 2001 PhD graduate, Kochetov's thesis was accepted for publication as part of the Routledge series of outstanding dissertations in linguistics. His research specialty is phonology.

Christoph Lülfesmann
Christoph Lülfesmann joins the department of economics as a tenured associate professor. Lülfesmann, who holds a PhD from the University of Bonn, Germany, was most recently an assistant professor at that institution. A micro-economist, Lülfesman specializes in public economics, industrial organization, contract theory and mechanism design.

Matthew White
Matthew White joins the kinesiology department as a tenure track assistant professor. White, who earned his undergraduate and Master's degrees at SFU, holds a PhD from the University of Laval. His research specialties include environmental physiology and nutrition and energy metabolism. White was most recently an assistant professor at Memorial University of Newfoundland.
