A number of administrative appointments have been approved by the board of governors over the past couple of months.

Nancy Olewiler was named director of the master's of public policy program for a five-year period beginning in April 2003.

Michael Plischke has been appointed acting dean of science beginning June 2003 until Aug. 31, 2004.

The following people have been re-appointed for a two-year term beginning September 2003:

• Steve Duguid, chair of the department of humanities;

• Phil Hanson, chair of the department of philosophy.

The following people have been appointed to three-year terms beginning September 2003:

• Rob Gordon, re-appointed director of the school of criminology;

• Bruce Brandhorst, chair of molecular biology and biochemistry;

• Marjorie Griffin Cohen, chair of the department of women's studies;

• Jane Pulkingham, chair of the departments of sociology and anthropology;

• Tony Williams, chair of department biological sciences.

Betty Schellenberg has been appointed to a one-year term as chair of the department of English beginning September 2003.

Tom Grieve has been appointed to a three-year term as the chair of English beginning in September 2004.

David Boal has been appointed chair of the department of physics for a five-year period beginning September 2003.
