SFU goes to the races
SFU Mechatronics students are putting their creativity to the test as they prepare to race in the Canary Derby on Saturday, Sept. 25 at Burnaby’s Deer Lake Park.  Siamak Arzanpour is overseeing the project and is among those putting final touches on their design, which he says is “quite different” from that of other soap box cars. “Our main focus has been to make it aerodynamic – and as fast as possible”. Judging includes points for creativity, team spirit and crowd response. The event, which raises funds for early cancer detection research, kicks off at 9 a.m. with a qualifying heat and runs through the day.
