The Attar Project takes centre stage at SFU Surrey

The Attar Project brings together the talents of three of Canada’s most original artists: violinist and composer Parmela Attariwala, Bharata Natyam dancer and choreographer Gitanjali Kolanad, and tabla player Shawn Mativetsky. Together these acclaimed performers weave an intriguing tapestry of Western and South Asian cultures, twining contemporary composition and classical virtuosity with traditional Indian dance and rhythm. From the harmony of Bach, the pulse of Bhangra, and the evocative movement of Bharata Natyam, The Attar Project creates a unique and inventive interplay of music, dance, and movement.

In celebration of the arrival of Attariwala’s ancestors in Canada 100 years ago, the ensemble created Scented Skies, now on a cross-Canada tour. For more information:
