Description, purpose and use of records

Black and white and colour photographic negatives, photographic contact sheets and individual photographic prints.

These photographs are produced by LIDC for various SFU publications and for publicity and administrative use. These records relate to all aspects of SFU's activities including portraits of individual faculty, staff, administrators, students and visitors and of various SFU buildings, landscapes, ceremonies, and other special occasions.

The photographs are arranged by photographic number. There is an index to the photographs which lists the image number, subject, description, department, frame, film and date supplied by LIDC.

Retention and filing guidelines

At the end of each year transfer photographs more than 5 years old directly to Archives custody and control. In addition, when photographs are transferred, include a copy of the index for that year (in both hardcopy and electronic form) with the transfer.
