Co-Chair: Charly Caproff
Charly Caproff is a fourth year student pursuing a Bachelor of Environment (BEnv) degree in Environmental Resource Management (ERM). She is passionate about karst, and blogs for Sierra Club BC about this largely unknown, but ecologically important, landscape. She believes strongly that there is a fundamental need to bridge the gap between industry, environmental organizations, First Nation groups and citizens in order to protect the environment, which led her to pursue this inter-disciplinary program in the natural sciences. Currently, she is assisting the Faculty with the initiation of a Bachelor of Environmental Student Union, which aims to provide students with experiential learning opportunities that will prepare them for employment in the environmental field.
Co-Chair: Michael Vegh
Michael Vegh is a third year Environmental Resource Management undergraduate student at Simon Fraser University. Within the ERSU, his role as Co-President is to assist and advise other exectuve members with their personal initiatives, ultimately collaborating with each member to guid the overall direction of this student union.
SFSS Council Representative: Grayson Barke
My name is Grayson Barke, and I am the SFSS Council Representative for the ERSU (aka The Whistling Marmot). I am working towards a double major in English and Environmental Resource Management with minors in REM and Dialogue. I am interested in ecological restoration, applied ecology, and historical ecology, and I am planning on pursuing graduate work and a career path in these fields. For me, being part of the ERSU is a great way to meet fellow students who share my academic and extra-curricular interests, to find out about volunteer and work opportunities and SFU events, to gain teamwork and organizing experience, and of course, to have fun!
Faculty Liasion: Clarissa Chang
My name is Clarissa, I am currently in my second year, enrolled in the Environmental Resource Management (ERM) program under the Bachelor of Environment (BEnv) at Simon Fraser University. I am extremely grateful to be a part of the executive team for the Environmental Resource Student Union as the faculty liaison (also known as the bald eagle). I am a strong believer in contributing to my community and engaging with other individuals to collaboratively make a difference. My passion for the environment started from a young age as I spent most of my time outdoors, whether it was camping, hiking, kayaking, gardening, or rock climbing. My passion then followed me through high school as I was Co-Chair for my school’s Environment Club, where myself and my fellow peers initiated multiple projects to educate others on the importance of a healthy environment. Upon starting my post-secondary education at Simon Fraser I undoubtedly wanted to get involved and therefore joined the student union, which I am so glad I did because I met a lot of amazing people who shares the same passion for the environment. I am very excited for what awaits!
Web Designer & Blog Editor: Michelle Chen
Michelle Chen is a student heading into her last year of studies at Simon Fraser in the Global Environmental Systems program. She is concurrently working on her Corporate Environmental & Social Sustainability certificate with the Beedie School of Business, and also has a Certificate of Web Design under her belt from the University of Waterloo. From an early age, she has appreciated nature as the result of all the road trips her parents have taken her on -to places like the Rockies, Banff, Jasper, and Calgary. She is interested in pursuing further studies in international development after being exposed to the environmental issues that people struggle with today, in both developing and developed countries. Her areas of interest include resource governance, water security, environmental education, and public policy. In the Environmental Resource Student Union, Michelle is their tech web designer and developer!

Hey guys! My name is Angela and I’m currently a first year BEnv student, majoring in Environmental Resource Management! I am currently an executive member of the Environmental Resource Student Union and will be organizing exciting events to raise funds for our union, “The Triad!” I love being active outside and simply enjoying fresh air. I’ve grown up here in beautiful B.C and would definitely consider the mountains my second home. I am most passionate about biodiversity and how we can protect it! As well as environmental law, especially with my fellow First Nation groups. Being at SFU and a part of ERSU is super exciting; I can’t wait for the years to come!
