Toshiba Photocopier- Printer setup

1) Add the printer (this page) - 2) Setting up (PC) - 3) Printing and releasing print job

Photocopiers must have the "Printer/Scanner kit" installed. Taken from Edwin Arneson, SFU Mathematics, greatly modified for our use. Thanks to Steve Halford for his help and suggestions. Please think of alternate ways of supporting B.C. forestry before you print this.

Windows: Adding the Toshiba e-STUDIO452 Photocopier as a Printer

Download the 32 bit driver from Toshiba (opens in new page) unless you know you have a 64bit system. On that page, choose B&W Copier and then select   ESTUDIO452 Choose just the 32 bit driver- for the PC, use PCL6 or PS, not the 70MB 'InstallClient' package and extract it to a new, empty, directory (remember where this directory is). (Unless you know you have a 64 bit system.)

Select Start/Printers and Faxes.

Click on "Add a printer"

Click Next >.

Select the "Local printer attached to this computer" radio button, uncheck "Automatically detect and install my Plug and Play printer", and then click Next >.

Click on the "Create a new port:" radio button then in the "Type of port:" picklist select "Standard TCP/IP Port".
Click Next > and in the 'Standard TCP/IP Port' wizard click Next > again.
For Printer name or address put in sscb8249-1.biol.sfu.ca (you may leave port name as is or call it ToshibaPhotocopier), then click Next >. Choose Standard and 'Generic Network Card'. Next > (this takes you back to the 'Add Printer Wizard')...

Click Have Disk....

Click Browse....

Navigate to the directory you extracted the driver files and click Open. (It should automatically choose the correct file and printer)

Click OK.

Click Next >. Now follow the directions for setting up the Toshiba Photocopier.

Mac OS X setup

For Snow Leopard I have found the 03/13/09 OS X installer does not work- try the CUPS .gz download from the estudio 452 page:

Download by clicking on .gz file
.gz CUPS Filter 03/13/09 3.30 cd

Double click the downloaded file (TOSHIBA_EST450_453_CUPS.gz) and drag the extracted file (TOSHIBA_EST450_453_CUPS) to a location such as Hard Drive/Library/Printers/

Then add printer, enter IP address, and where it says "Print using 'Generic PostScript Printer'" change it to 'Other...' and find the TOSHIBA_EST450_453_CUPS file. The icon will be generic but is should have the correct options.

1) Install the Toshiba Printer Drivers

2) Install the Toshiba Printer (Start here if you have already installed the printer and just need to change the IP/ hostname.)

Get to the Printer List, e.g. open the print dialog (apple-P) within any application, then choose 'Add a printer...' or 'Edit Printer List' from the printer list

Click Add.

When the "Installable Options" dialog box appears, set the "Finisher" to "Multi-Position Stapler" and the "Drawers" to "LCF" and then click Continue.

Now after sending the document to print, go to the photocopier and follow these directions posted above the photocopier. Please note Macintosh print jobs go to the invalid print queue.
