"Citizen scientists' rare fossil bird finds shed new light on avian history"

The Vancouver Sun published an article last Saturday on a new study co-authored by Bruce Archibald and Rolf Mathewes, on the fossil birds known from 50 million year old rocks in British Columbia.  Most of the fragmentary birds are from unfamiliar families (Like mousebirds), and are the first records of the ancient Eocene avifauna in BC, recently published in the Canadian Journal of Earth Sciences.
