- Thursday, November 23, 2017 – 11:00am-12:00pm
- BPK Seminar Room K9624
The BCAK in association with Simon Fraser University are pleased to present the following live webinar presentation:
The ability to perform daily tasks without falling, and the ability to avoid injury in the event of a fall, are essential to quality of life. Aging is associated with a decline in these abilities. In this webinar, Dr. Steven Robinovitch will share his insights from over two decades of research on the biomechanics of falls in older adults. He will describe how his team is translating basic research (performed both in the lab and in clinical environments) into improved exercise programs, risk screening, protective clothing, and safe movement environments.
About the Presenter:
Dr. Stephen Robinovitch is a Professor in Biomedical Physiology and Kinesiology at Simon Fraser University, and director of the Injury Prevention and Mobility Laboratory. He conducts research on the cause and prevention of falls and fall-related injuries in older adults, and traumatic brain injuries in sport.
