As some of you have noticed, beginning this fall semester, the Department of Biomedical Physiology and Kinesiology is now offering a new degree option for students.
In addition to a major in Kinesiology, students now have the option to major in Biomedical Physiology. As of Fall 2010, this new major will replace the Health and Physiological Sciences concentration under the Kinesiology major. Details of the requirements are found in the SFU calendar here.
At present, students have the option to follow either the original concentration in Health and Physiological Sciences or the new major. Students who are approved in the Health and Physiological Sciences concentration under the Kinesiology major are still able to complete their program according to the calendar requirements specified in the year that they were approved into the program. All classes that are part of the Health and Physiological Sciences concentration are still listed in the calendar and are still offered by the department.
Alternatively, the new major is derived from the original concentration and students may choose to switch to the new program. There are some differences between the programs and students who wish to follow the new degree must follow all of the new requirements. These requirements include:
