Certificate Programs

Question:
If I complete the courses required for one of the two certificate programs, will the certificate automatically be awarded to me?

No. First you need to be a registered student, then you must get program approval by the Advisor. Students must complete a program approval form, available from our web site or the Kinesiology General Office. The form is to be completed (and signed and dated by the student), along with an advising report -- this is then to be submitted to the Undergraduate Advisor, Sophie Dunbar. Forms may also be faxed 778.782.3040

If the Health & Fitness certificate is being completed, a valid CPR certification must be shown to the General office in the semester you have applied to graduate from the certificate program. Lastly, you must apply for graduation. For instructions on how to apply for graduation, visit: go.sfu.ca

Question:
Can I complete both certificates?

Yes, however, you cannot count the same courses towards two certificates. If Kin 105 and Kin 110 are counted towards the Certificate in Health and Fitness, you will need to replace these courses with two approved courses for the Certificate in Applied Human Nutrition. The simplest way to do this is to look at the list of electives provided and to choose two extra elective courses. COURSES APPLIED TO ONE CERTIFICATE MAY NOT BE APPLIED TO ANY OTHER CERTIFICATE IN THE UNIVERSITY.
