This certificate is intended for professionals who are not dietitians or nutritionists, but are concerned with promotion of health and wellness, such as the following:
The purpose is to provide these professionals with an enhanced understanding of the relationships among food, body composition, health, and human performance. Please note that this certificate does not qualify the individual as a registered dietitian.
Students must be admitted to SFU prior to applying for the certificate program. Admission is governed by the University regulations. See http://students.sfu.ca/ps/.
Please note that a maximum of nine credit hours are transferable to the certificate from other academic institutions, including the Open Learning Agency.
After being admitted to Simon Fraser University, submission of a completed program approval form to the kinesiology undergraduate advisor is required for formal acceptance in the program.

Students must have a minimum 2.00 GPA calculated on all required courses to meet University graduation requirements.
The certificate is normally completed within five years of admission to the certificate program.
Credits applied to the Applied Human Nutrition Certificate may not be applied to the Health and Fitness Certificate or any other certificates offered at Simon Fraser University. For those who wish to complete both the Health and Fitness Certificate AND the Applied Human Nutrition Certificate, it is best to consult the Kinesiology Advisor.
